The VisTimer was developed to provide a gentle implementation of time imposed limits. It utilizes an animated shrinking pie chart to depict elapsed time. Visual thinkers, especially when they are children, have difficulty conceptualizing time. Being able to see the changing pie chart as time passes makes it easier to understand time and duration. It is easy to explain to a child that when the circle is completely gone, an activity is finished or a task must be completed. There is an Early Warning preference setting to indicate the timer is approaching completion. This provides a gentle reminder to prepare and set expectations. Even the color of the pie chart can be customized to a calming favorite color. Sometimes allowing a child to participate in selecting these preferences creates a sense of ownership and commitment. The VisTimer can also operate in Lock Mode, where all settings are locked after the timer is started. This imparts it with a higher sense of authority and detaches its consequences from you.
The low stress animated circle combined with restful colors and gentle sounds also make it ideal for timing relaxation activities such as meditation and yoga.

At last, my son eats in less than 30 minutes, trying to beat "the red circle". Exactly what I needed. Very visual, warning signal, etc..,
Very annoying that the app ignores my setting for no audio alert when I use the "reset/restart" option! PLEASE FIX and Ill gladly give 5 starts.
Bought full version and cannot update the duration. Whatever the first duration I pick is, thats what it stays at even when I go into info and select a new duration and done. Its a great idea but a total waste of money if the times cannot be easily changed. Please fix!
This is just what I was looking for! I love that you can set a reminder close to the end of your time. I love that you start with a whole pie no matter how long you set it for. I like the choices of sounds- although there could be more (not so kiddie). I love that it also shows the digital time elapsed in numerals- I would just like to see this be at the top of the screen and larger. I love that you get to choose the color of your pie, and it it really easy to change. I cant wait to use it on my son who has trouble staying on task & myself. I love how I can also change the colors on the time as well as the shrinking pie: ) one more modification Id like to ask for. I use this app for myself (adult) most of the time. That being said, sometimes when I am timing I have to close the App to use another app. When I open the VisTimer app again the time is zerod out- at first I thought that it stopped & reset when I closed the app, but then I realized that the timer I set was still running- but I couldnt get back to it to see how much time had elapsed. I would like to be able to close the app & reopen it and the original timer I set to still be there. I do really like the option to keep the screen from sleeping while the timer is engaged if I choose. Thanks for the best & best priced visual app in the AppStore (well & anywhere actually).
I am pleased to have found a simple meditation timer. The pie chart feedback is clear and exactly what I need for meditation. The three low C bells provide a perfect ending for my session. Improvements: for meditation many of us like to begin our session with a sound. Please have the option to play a sound when the session starts. Also a dollar 99 seems high for a basic app like this. But it is what I needed so I paid for it. Thank you.
